RAR Extractor - Unarchiver App Reviews

I tried to unzip my files. It literally did nothing. Maybe its just me. But either way, didnt work.

Im using a 2011 MBP, running OSX v10.8.5, installed and ran with no problems. Double-clicking a rar file automatically unzips all contents into a folder with the same name. You can set a few simple preferences in the app, such as the default directory for the unzipped folder (stock setting is to unzip into the same folder as the rar file) and actions after unzipping (e.g. exit app, open folder, etc). Doesnt have the same archive-browsing functions as WinRar but I havent yet found any OSX apps that do.

I got this specifically for .RAR files, and it works perfectly. It was easy to use and very fast. While most file compression formats are supported natively, at the command-line if nothing else, .RAR seems to be an exception. Several people have complained about issues opening .ZIP files with it. I would suggest that perhaps the .ZIP files involved are corrupted or otherwise compromised. OS X opens them natively and transparently, so there would be no reason to use this program or any other 3rd party program for them.

I had some issues using this app whenever I tried simultaneously extracting multiple RAR files… it would extract the archive into a folder created by a previous extraction when I specified the parent directory… also, if I set up multiple RAR files to be extracted, the queue would freeze and I’d have to force quit the app. I’m trying another app to see if it works any better.

None as I was never able to use the program. It is very difficult to understand.

It does not work, at least not for me. Too complicated. DId not like it and Hard to Remove...

This app did exactly what I needed to do - open RAR files on my iMac. Installation was quick, and I was able to open RAR files immediatley after the installation was complete. Love the app logo. :-)

The Unarchiver and Unrarx failed to extract files this one did the the correctly! Great work you guys!

RAR is a very poor performer on the Mac. This program will extract when other extraction programs kinda just sit there. A little shocked to find this is Version 5.2.1. - Still needs work. I bought the upgrade (99¢).

Extracted the .rar file I needed, but I deleted the file and the software later on. I never needed to extract a .rar ever again. It is still a usefull app. The app deserves 5 Stars based on the time I’ve used it.

Just sat at an empty loading bar and never extracted the .rar.

It would unexpectedly and suddenly stop, uninstalled it and used The Unarchiver instead which was reliable

Works, but its not obvious when it finishes opening a file.

needed it to extract a Pokemon Zeta Sprite Pack and it worked! Thank to the debs!

when i extract from BZ2 file,it can very fast and simplify .very helpful,i recommend it.
